Colleges and Universities

Smart students require smart learning and living environments – and that’s been our driving force since the beginning. Our founder, Professor Warren Johnson, invented the technology to help comfortable classrooms become the foundation for a solid education.

Johnson Controls Helps Higher Education

First impressions make a major impact on student recruitment. Some 65% of first-year students choose a college based on the campus appearance and its perceived maintenance. Satisfied students are better positioned to perform well, stay in school, and carry a positive outlook.

We help improve learning environments. Everything from comfort and security to sustainable design and technology. Updating student housing or constructing new, world-class academic buildings. Developing research laboratories, athletic facilities or central plants. Johnson Controls provide quality learning environments to meet the needs of students and inspire faculty.

What about the funding? Johnson Controls knows P3, direct financing, traditional debt financing, alternative financing arrangements and grant services.  Our team will consider each project’s unique characteristics and customize a financing solution to fund improvement projects.
Students Learn through Engagement

Not only are we committed to improving student achievement through a better physical environment, we also believe in educating and inspiring students to do their part in building a better, brighter future.

Our student engagement programs focus on building awareness and educating students about campus efforts.  Even better, we engage students in activities, so they know the importance and impact of their behavior on energy efficiency and conservation. Best of all, we collaborate with technical colleges and higher education institutions to develop curriculum or degreed programs in energy efficiency or sustainability.

Students will not only become more environmentally conscious, but they will be positioned for internships and green jobs in the future.
Johnson Controls surveys the campus in great detail—to assist with design, prioritize improvements, implement projects from equipment replacement to technology upgrades, and help find innovative financing solutions.
