1. What is your role at Johnson Controls?
I am the Product Line Engineering Manager for Power Sports and Optima batteries based in Milwaukee. I am responsible to lead the global product engineering resources and development projects for these two product lines. I am the key product line contact for the company to drive projects, technologies and resources to achieve company’s targets and customer’s expectations with Johnson Controls products.
2. What excites you most about your work?
Teamwork, relationships with colleagues and customers, and the product technology development are what really excite me about my work. I enjoy a deep technical discussion and solving problems with Johnson Controls technical experts and customers.
3. What is your favorite project you’ve worked on?
My favorite project that I’ve worked on is the motorcycle battery lineup development for Honda Japan. During this five-year project, we built a manufacturing plant and developed a product lineup. This allowed me to understand and respect the complexity of battery engineering as well as understand all of the customer’s expectations inside the automotive battery world. My technical expertise and teamwork abilities increased exponentially because of this project. I was able to travel to Japan three times to present the project results to the customer. It was a great experience and prepared me to assume the responsibilities I have today.
4. What do you like about working in Milwaukee?
I like the opportunity to start a new professional experience. I have now been in Milwaukee for six months and it has been an amazing experience. Before this, my entire career path was in a plant in Brazil. Now posted inside the company’s headquarters in a different country allows me to understand more about the global business and make strategic decisions. It has being a new beginning and I really enjoy new challenges.
5. What do you like most about working for Johnson Controls?
I really like the opportunity to travel and experience other cultures, the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience globally and to learn every day with my colleagues. Also the idea to work in a big project development for a new technology or new product for a specific customer really inspires me every day. I love that Johnson Controls allows me to do all these things.
6. What inspires you the most?
What really inspires me is to help the company to understand the global market for batteries and take strategic technologies decisions on investments and “where and how to play.”
