sharing time and talent
We recognize that volunteering provides an excellent opportunity to strengthen both our employees and our local communities. We’re very proud that our employees are generous with their time and energy to give back to a variety of organizations.
Community Involvement Program
The Community Involvement Program exists to support and encourage employee volunteerism. The program is a global, dedicated, collaborative, and highly visible employee effort that brings together a diverse group of volunteers focused on strengthening their local communities. For more than 30 years, the program has given employees the opportunity to volunteer in their local communities. Our employees have logged over 104,000 volunteer hours.
Some examples of employee outreach efforts are:
Harvest Care Centre Laos
Volunteers worked to construct water wells in the Ban Na' Ang Village, installing hand-washing basins, as well as providing basic hygiene education. More than 150 sets of dental care travel kits were distributed to the students.
Junior Achievement
Junior Achievement is dedicated to educating students about work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. Johnson Controls employees participate in this program throughout various locations in the United States.
Care & Share Program
Care & Share is an annual program for those employees located in Johnson Controls Holland, MI location. Employees raise dollars to support their local community organizations, and the Johnson Controls Foundation matches the dollars that are raised. Employees volunteer over 400 hours annually to nonprofit and community organizations by giving of their time, talent and resources.
United Negro College Fund
As a long-time supporter of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), Johnson Controls employees participate in the annual Walk/Run for Education where our employees comprise one of the largest participant and contributor groups.
Spinal Cord Paralytics of Turkey
Employees participated in a program that raised funds to assist individuals who experience difficulties using their hands and arms. The funds make it possible to provide battery-operated wheelchairs to those individuals involved in the program.
Hunger Task Force
Johnson Controls partners with Hunger Task Force, an organization that helps feed the hungry in southeastern Wisconsin. Employees donate time and resources to the organization through workplace fundraisers and food drives.
Leukemia Lymphoma Society
Leukemia Lymphoma Society is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. The organization funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world, and provides information and support services. Johnson Controls employees participate in the annual Light the Night Campaign in Wisconsin and Michigan.
Cornerstone Schools
Cornerstone Schools is a private organization that provides students with a year-round alternative education on five campuses in the Detroit area to which Johnson Controls has been a long-time financial contributor. Our African American Affinity Network (AAAN) is actively involved in the organization and employees serve as student mentors.
Milwaukee Holiday Parade
In 2003, the Milwaukee Holiday Parade was almost cancelled after 76 years, due to a lack of funding. A donation from Johnson Controls allowed the annual tradition to continue. The Holiday Parade brings together thousands of Milwaukee residents and their families while donating non-perishable food items to Hunger Task Force through the Food for Families campaign.
