Johnson Controls wins Edison Awards for innovations

Johnson Controls was honored recently by the prestigious Edison Awards for its new Panoptix™ solution, as well as for the company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.

The company received Bronze Awards in two areas – the Green Award category and the Energy and Sustainability category for Panoptix. The awards were announced April 26, 2012 at the Edison Awards Annual Gala, held in the historic ballroom of the Capitale in New York.

"Both awards signify Johnson Controls’ leadership in sustainability and innovation, which have been central to the company’s mission for more than 125 years,” said Laura Farnham, vice president, building technology and services, Building Efficiency, Johnson Controls. "We will continue to look forward and advance products and solutions that address the environment and help our customers achieve success."

The Panoptix™ solution, honored in the Smart Systems portion of the Energy and Sustainability category, addresses the growing need to improve the performance of building systems to save energy, cost and enhance comfort. The most significant innovation in the building industry in 30 years, Panoptix combines cloud-based computing, sophisticated analytics and other new technologies with Johnson Controls’ 125 years of expertise to turn data into actionable insight.

The Edison Awards recognized Johnson Controls in the Green Award category for its commitment to sustainability and innovation. Johnson Controls delivers products, services and solutions that increase energy efficiency and lower operating costs in buildings for more than one million customers, including corporations, governments and institutions.

In 2011, the Power Solutions group of Johnson Controls received a Bronze Edison Award for “Best New Product” for its VARTA® Start-Stop batteries in the Energy and Sustainability category.

The distinguished awards symbolize the persistence and excellence personified by Thomas Alva Edison, inspiring America’s drive to remain in the forefront of innovation, creativity and ingenuity in the global economy.

The ballot of nominees for the Edison Awards is judged by more than 3,000 senior business executives and academics from across the nation whose votes acknowledge the finalists’ success in meeting the award criteria of concept, value, delivery and impact. The panel includes members of the powerful Marketing Executives Networking Group (MENG), which has partnered with the Edison Awards since 2009.
