Johnson Controls employees in the United Kingdom volunteer their time as part of the company's Blue Sky Involve program.

Blue Sky Involve

Global employee volunteer program on the rise

Blue Sky Involve, a Johnson Controls global employee volunteer program, helps us fulfill our mission of creating a more comfortable, safe and sustainable world by encouraging teams of employees to donate their time and talents to benefit communities, schools and non-profit organizations around the world.

While our employees regularly volunteer individually for worthwhile events and organizations, Blue Sky Involve provides a structure and resources for employees to work in teams to implement service projects. Each team’s chosen school or non-profit organization receives a $1,000 grant to help execute their project or to go toward the organization’s operations.

Blue Sky Involve projects run the gamut, for example:

  • Planting trees in Ohio as part of a forest restoration initiative
  • Organizing an Eco-Awareness Camp where schoolchildren in India learn about the environment and involve them in activities that will help increase groundwater levels in their villages
  • Rebuilding a summer camp for children in the Czech Republic after the camp’s facilities were destroyed by a fire
  • Installing new chairs, tables and computers at a kindergarten in Mexico to provide youngsters with an improved learning environment

Tremendous growth

Blue Sky Involve was launched in 2006.  In that first year, 150 projects were undertaken across 32 countries. 5,000 employees volunteered 45, 000 hours of service. By comparison, in 2012, more than 1,350 projects will be implemented involving 15,500 employees devoting 126,000 hours in 64 countries to benefit more than 1000 organizations and the people they serve.

The 1,350 projects being funded across the globe in 2012 represent a total investment of $1.35 million in local communities.

To keep you up to date on what our employees are doing to help the communities where they live and work, we will publish stories on Blue Sky Involve projects on an ongoing basis.
