Demo Drive

Know Your Options

Motorists are always eager to save a few dollars at the gas pump but most aren't aware of how advanced vehicle technology can save them money during their typical daily drives.

That is why Johnson Controls has introduced its Demo Drive Web site (www.mydemodrive.com) to educate consumers about the costs and benefits associated with an internal combustion engine, a Start-Stop vehicle and a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV).

Visitors to the site may virtually test-drive and compare fuel usage, CO2 emissions and travel costs among the three kinds of vehicles.

“Recent research has demonstrated that a majority of consumers don’t know the difference among the different types of advanced technology vehicles,” said Mary Ann Wright, global vice president for technology and innovation at Johnson Controls Power Solutions. “Consumers can see for themselves how the various types of vehicle technologies can positively impact their life.”

Countryside Commuter or Motorway Maven?

The Demo Drive site is easy and fun to use. Visitors choose the driving style that most resembles their daily vehicle usage and follow the virtual route. Through the Demo Drive experience, consumers will gain a better understanding of how the various advanced technologies would impact their pocketbook and the environment.

They can share their observations or see what others think by visiting www.facebook.com/demodrive. Also, My Demo Drive is available on mobile, touch-screen devices.

Start-Stop 101
Of the three technologies, Start-Stop is probably the least known to American consumers but is more common in Europe. Demo Drive provides an opportunity to education consumers about Start-Stop technology.

Ford, General Motors and Hyundai have all announced plans to utilize Start-Stop technology in their vehicles sold in the United States beginning in 2012.

Johnson Controls is the world’s leading supplier of Start-Stop batteries through its VARTA Start-Stop brand, currently providing more than 3 million Start-Stop batteries a year with plans to invest more than $420 million globally over the next two to three years.
