Metasys 5.0

Metasys 5.0 means more productivity, more mobility and more data visibility

Metasys 5.0 – the latest release of the industry-leading building management system from Johnson Controls – makes it easier than ever for facilities managers and others to access, report and utilize data on how their buildings are performing.

The system helps reduce energy usage and costs while maintaining safe, comfortable and sustainable environments, by ensuring that all building systems work in harmony – from heating, cooling and lighting, to fire safety and security.

Metasys 5.0 captures real-time information on these systems and organizes and delivers that information when and where needed in a way that users can work with it more quickly and easily than ever before.

Terry Hoffmann, director of building automation systems marketing for Johnson Controls, said: "Metasys 5.0 delivers more functionality for people who want to use their existing system to gain more efficiencies. It provides more visibility to the information they need to make informed decisions that are essential to their sustainability efforts."

Enhancements include:
  • Energy Essentials--providing easy-to-configure and understand reports on energy usage and spend by energy type, which is essential data for facilities managers to present to their management
  • Tailored Summaries – enabling users to create summaries of only the information they want, with the flexibility to sort, display, and customize key information on building performance
  • More compatibility with mobile devices – allowing users to access the information they need anytime, anywhere, from their laptops, iPhones and other mobile devices. People don't have to be tethered to their desktops any more to see the information they need.
"These enhancements increase the ability of our customers to have necessary information at their fingertips wherever and whenever they need it," Terry said. He added: "This helps make buildings more efficient and increases staff productivity."

Mark Peterson, controls engineer for the University of Minnesota energy department, agrees. "Metasys 5.0 has provided our campus with increased visibility to our buildings and an enhanced user experience. It's helped us generate new ideas on how to reduce energy usage and helped us toward our goal of reducing energy costs by 5 percent by June of this year."
