Advancing Minorities' Interest in Engineering (AMIE)
Advancing Minorities' Interest in Engineering (AMIE) (LINK http://www.amiepartnerships.org/) to helps develop future engineers of color emerging from several Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Serving as the catalyst between major corporations like Johnson Controls and HBCUs, it establishes partnerships that enhance the engineering curriculum, improve academic facilities and maximize resources at each institution, while providing fresh insight into the engineering needs of corporate America. Johnson Controls has a longstanding presence on the national organization's board.
Through our relationship with AMIE, Johnson Controls is able to partner with the following HBCUs:

INROADS (LINK to http://www.inroads.org/) is an international organization with more than 55 offices serving more than 5,500 interns at over 600 companies. For more than three decades, INROADS has helped businesses gain greater access to diverse talent through continuous leadership development of outstanding ethnically diverse students and placement of those students in internships at many of North America's top corporations, firms and organizations. Since 1991, Johnson Controls has been a partner with INROADS and has hired many of its participants as employees. The Johnson Controls Foundation provides dollars for the INROADS Alumni Scholarship Program.
Society of Women Engineers (SWE)
The mission of Society of Women Engineers (LINK to http://societyofwomenengineers.swe.org/) is to encourage women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and demonstrate the value of diversity. Johnson Controls has cultivated a relationship with SWE, most notably as a strong supporter of its annual conference. SWE is an important resource for the company’s workplace diversity recruitment.
Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE)
The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) (LINK to http://oneshpe.shpe.org/wps/portal/national ) is a national organization of professional and student engineers who serve as role models in the Hispanic community. Founded in 1974, their concept of networking was the key basis for the organization. Today, SHPE enjoys a strong but independent network of professional and student chapters throughout the nation and abroad. Johnson Controls has been a continual supporter and recruiter at the SHPE conference, one of the largest technical and career conferences in the country for Hispanics.
National Society of Black Engineers
The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) (LINK to http://national.nsbe.org/) is one of the largest student-managed organizations in the country with a mission to increase the number of culturally responsible engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community. With more than 24,000 members, the NSBE is organized by pre-college, university and alumni chapters. Johnson Controls maintains an active relationship by recruiting at NSBE national and regional conferences on an annual basis.
The National Black MBA Association®
The National Black MBA Association® (LINK to http://www.nbmbaa.org/home.aspx?PageID=637&) is one of the most powerful social networks dedicated to increasing corporate diversity and access to capital. Strictly a professional membership organization for African American graduates with MBAs, advanced degrees, and entrepreneurs, the association's goal is to increase the number of successful African Americans in the business community. Johnson Controls actively recruits at the association's local and national events.
The National Society of Hispanic MBAs
The NSHMBA (LINK to http://www.nshmba.org/Page.aspx?pid=209) is known as a premier Hispanic organization serving 7,000 members in the United States and Puerto Rico. Its purpose is to foster Hispanic leadership through graduate management education and professional development.
