If I am interviewing out of state, will I be reimbursed for my travel expenses?

Johnson Controls covers traveling expenses in compliance with our interviewing policy. Our goal is to make this process as easy as possible for our candidates.

How many interns do you typically hire?

The number varies from year to year, but we typically have about 100 between our campuses in Holland, MI and Plymouth, MI.

When do you start recruiting summer interns?

We begin contacting intern candidates in early Spring.

What can I expect to do at Johnson Controls during my internship?

Johnson Controls interns have job responsibilities similar to those of full-time employees in their respective groups. Your project(s) will be determined before you arrive. As an intern, you will be working with full-time employees as part of a team that designs and develops world-class automotive interiors.

How long do internships last?

Internships typically are 12 weeks, but the program is designed to accommodate your school schedule.

How many projects will I be assigned during my internship?

The average number of major projects assigned to each intern is usually between three to five throughout the summer.

Which Johnson Controls locations offer internships?

Currently, we offer internships at our Holland, Michigan and Plymouth, Michigan facilities.

Do I have to be a U.S. citizen to apply for an internship in the United States?

We will interview all qualified candidates attending college in North America, regardless of citizenship or visa status. We are currently not recruiting candidates outside of North America for internship opportunities in the United States.

What does Johnson Controls require of applicants in terms of college degrees and majors?

Johnson Controls will consider both bachelor- and masters-level candidates. We are always looking for engineering majors (mechanical, electrical, industrial, chemical, safety, and plastics), computer science and management information systems, and business majors (accounting/finance and supply chain management).

After submitting my resume on-line, what happens next?

When openings arise, hiring managers and recruiters search our database for available candidates. If your qualifications are a good match for openings, either the manager or a recruiter will contact you directly. If a match is not made, your resume will remain in the system for other managers and recruiters to access.
