Dual-FaserTec

Johnson Controls wins 2nd place at ÖkoGlobe

Ökoglobe Award 2008 groß
Johnson Controls has been awarded 2nd place for its Dual-FaserTec upholstery cushions at the ÖkoGlobe Awards by the German insurance group, DEVK Versicherungen and the German automobile club, ACV Automobil-Club Verkehr. The automotive interiors specialist was declared the close runner-up to Bosch in the supplier innovation category. The ÖkoGlobe is an international environmental award for the automotive industry and its suppliers which has been judged for the second time now in eleven categories. The award was initiated in 2007 by German performance artist HA Schult, and is awarded by the DEVK and the ACV in collaboration with the CAR Center Research Institute of the Gelsenkirchen University of Applied Sciences.

By using sustainable raw materials, the automotive interiors specialist has captured the mood of our times. Its Dual-FaserTec upholstery cushions made of coconut fibers and latex is particular comfortable and environmentally-friendly. Compared to conventional PUR production methods, its Dual-FaserTec upholstery is more economical to produce, as the system costs are lower. Process steps and materials like foam and adhesive can be eliminated, as there is no need to adhere a soft foam to the seating cushion. This also lowers the overall emissions. Furthermore, the homogeneity of the material improves its recycling properties. Another positive feature is that the required raw materials are not in competition with the food industry.
