Fibrit

Made with wood fibers

Fibrit DP

Fibrit is the product of a wet forming process similar to paper production. The high natural fiber content of 94% ensures price stability compared to products derived from fossil-fuel resources. Fibrit combines wood fibers (offcuts from sawmill processing) with an acrylic resin binder.

Benefits

  • Low area weight
  • Cost-effective due to easy vacuum covering as Fibrit is air permeable, ideal for in-mold graining (IMG)
  • Increased design freedom
  • Low material costs
  • No pre-treatment necessary for wrapping process
  • Recycling of carrier material
  • Use of renewable material to reduce the carbon footprint

Applications

  • Carrier for covered door panels
  • Covered or foamed instrument panels
  • Covered inserts

Experience

  • In production since 1954
  • Currently in production for Mercedes-Benz, Opel
