Fibrowood

Made with wood fibers

Fibrowood
Fibrowood is a wood fiber material with acrylic resin/synthetic fiber binder that is compression molded in a high-temperature tool. The natural fiber content of Fibrowood is 70% and ensures price stability compared to products derived from fossil-fuel resources.

Benefits

  • Low area weight
  • Cost-effective due to easy vacuum covering as Fibrowood is air permeable, ideal for in-mold graining (IMG)
  • Weight reduction through back-injection molding to natural fiber carrier
  • No pre-treatment necessary for wrapping process
  • Small radii with in-mold graining
  • Good crash performance
  • Recycling of carrier material
  • Use of renewable material to reduce the carbon footprint

Applications

  • Carrier for covered door panels
  • Covered or foamed instrument panels
  • Covered inserts and components
  • Covered seat back panels

Experience

  • In production since 1998
  • Currently in production for BMW, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, Hyundai
