What if I don’t have a patent?
You must have a patent or patent applied for to successfully submit your technology idea to Johnson Controls.

What if my patent is filed but not yet published?
We can accept your technology idea even if your patent application is not yet published.

Why can’t you accept confidential information?
To keep the submission process simple and manageable and to meet the legal requirements of handling confidential information, we must insist that all shared information be nonconfidential. If we are interested in pursuing your technology idea further, we may ask you to sign a confidentially agreement with Johnson Controls.

What is done with my information once I submit it?
All submission are first checked for completeness, then forwarded to one or more experts within the Automotive Experience team for technical review and potential business application.

How do I contact you to check on the submission?
Unfortunately, we are not able to provide updates on submissions on an individual basis. We will let you know that we have received your submission and will let you know the results at the completion of our internal assessment. Depending on the complexity of the submission, this process can take up to three months.

Will I get a reason should Johnson Controls choose not to pursue my technology submission?
No, we will not be able to provide additional information about the assessment.
