Since 2011 the Kaiserslautern location has stood for outstanding development competence in all areas of mobile seating. Around 600 recognized experts work on innovative solutions - both for the global network of Johnson Controls Automotive Experience and also for RECARO Automotive Seating, a Johnson Controls subsidiary that uses the RECARO brand under license in the automotive industry.

The Kaiserslautern Development Center covers all of the specialist R&D areas for seating development on an area of approximately 323,000 square feet: This ranges from pre-development, via prototype construction and comprehensive test devices to the extremely modern crash simulator.

Kaiserslautern is in the south of the German state Rhineland-Palatinate and is known in particular as an industrial and university city.
