Our Performance and Environmental Responsibilities Go Hand in Hand
Through the sourcing, recycling, and re-use of materials, we ensure that the performance of our engineered materials is fully compatible with protecting the environment.
Material development and evaluation at Johnson Controls is led by our Advanced Materials and Process Engineering (AMPE) group. Our AMPE team, has developed a portfolio of substrates, upholstery, and surface materials for interior components that always takes into consideration the specific needs that each of these materials must fulfill.Every material must meet functional requirements, such as resistance to wear and tear and easy care. And the look and feel of the materials – plus the way they are combined with one another – play an important role in helping to make vehicle occupants feel comfortable.
At the same time, however, we must be dedicated to using our natural resources in a responsible way that always complies with environmental regulations. This is especially true in the initial development stages of new products, when we develop product assembly processes that focus on easy-to-disassemble structures using recyclable and reusable materials.
The expertise of our materials specialists and our wide-ranging testing facilities enables us to proactively fulfill new environmental standards and legal requirements. In doing this, we remain focused on our customers’ needs. In this way, we can achieve optimal conditions in production, and during and at the end of our products' life cycles.
Johnson Controls enhances vehicles with the world’s natural resources, meeting the growing consumer demand for environmentally friendly vehicles.
As demonstrated throughout our new demonstrator ie:3, Inspired Efficiency moves beyond current knowledge and expectations to explore intriguing new possibilities.
We operate several development centers around the world with dedicated space to develop state-of-the-art product technologies.
