Helping customers achieve within Life Sciences facilities of the future
In coming weeks, in a series of workshops, Johnson Controls Global WorkPlace Solutions (GWS) will bring together its global Life Sciences Market leadership team and key subject matter experts to create a roadmap for the Life Sciences industry.
These roadmapping sessions will be led by Dr. Marie Puybaraud, Director of the Johnson Controls GWS Global WorkPlace Innovation team. The aim will be to take a close look at the industry of today and use the team’s combined market knowledge and experience to assess and extrapolate current trends to build a picture of what the sector could look like in the future.
Christoph Vogel, Johnson Controls GWS Vice President and General Manager for the Life Sciences Market said: “To ensure that GWS remains at the forefront of our industry, we must ensure that we are able to evolve and transform our existing real estate, workplace and FM services. The knowledge we gain from the roadmapping project will enable us to introduce totally new offerings to meet the future needs of our global Life Sciences customers. This may include additions to our market-specific advanced solutions which are supporting our customers in mission critical R&D and manufacturing environments.”
The roadmapping process will enable Johnson Controls GWS to identify all the mega-, macro- and micro-trends, developments and disruptors affecting the Life Sciences industry and help to then explore the relevance and potential impact of these trends at an industry-specific level. It will help to identify gaps and opportunities that the business needs to look out for/monitor and enable it to build a vision for the future of the global market. Johnson Controls GWS will then be able assess the level of readiness of the market to embrace some of the potential changes identified and the resulting transformation that the business will need to make as to enhance its technologies, services and solutions to successfully address these changes/challenges. The objectives are to meet and exceed the future expectations of global Life Sciences customers.
The series of discussions will also take into account a number of recent and substantial market reports which present different scenarios for what the future Life Sciences landscape could look like. These include possible new market paradigms that could see a move away from a diversified portfolio/product-centric focus to an information and customer-centric dynamic, with a much broader focus on health outcomes for the patient/consumer (as outlined in the Ernst & Young report - Progressions The Third place: health care everywhere).
In particular, the sessions will explore the following trends and developments:
- Failure of the blockbuster drug model
- Drying pipelines
- Emerging markets
- Complexity of new drugs
- Decrease time to market
- Increased regulatory hurdles
Once the process is completed, Johnson Controls GWS will be sharing these findings with customers at a Life Sciences Market-focused event later in 2012, where they will be invited to both validate and contribute to the ongoing discussions about the future shape and specific requirements of the industry.
