GWi Focus for 2011
Global WorkPlace Innovation (GWi), led by Dr. Marie Puybaraud, is Johnson Controls' dedicated program to develop and promote leading edge research in the workplace, facilities management and corporate real estate arenas.
Building on key research from the past eight years, GWi is focused on the year ahead. Recent success in global research initiatives, such as Oxygenz, the Smart WorkPlace 2030, and the Flexible Working Survey, will serve as the foundation for new opportunities that continue to reveal thought-provoking findings and alternative solutions. GWi regularly partners with industry leaders and the academic community, such as CoreNet Global, London Royal College of Art, Dublin Institute of Technology, New Ways of Working, Knoll, BHDP and Steelcase to effectively implement our projects.
Highlighted below is a selection of upcoming initiatives planned for 2011:
- Creating an environmentally-friendly workplace with the Royal College of Art:
Green education and sustainability initiatives are resonating loudly with employees across all markets and geographies. This project will generate design scenarios, survey findings and guidance that Johnson Controls customers can use to manage a more environmentally-aware workplace. Trends and findings will be used to strengthen our energy and workplace offering to our customers.
- Collaboration 2020:
We aim to understand how companies should position themselves towards 2020 to take advantage of current and future e-technologies and collaborative practices to boost productivity and innovation capabilities, as well as create sustainable competitive advantage in a networked, global economy. We will address this research question by market and region to provide an accurate and powerful insight from around the globe.
- White Paper: Generation Y: lessons learned:
Look for a contemplative white paper analyzing the shifting dynamic in the workplace in response to Generation Y. Building on discoveries from Oxygenz, the multi-year global survey of Generation Y, this paper will identify the key motivations behind this generation and the characteristics that infuse their work style.
- Global Survey: Multi-generations at work:
Does Generation Y really have such unique needs that it is necessary to design spaces especially for them? This project will research the multi-generational effect, experience and values on the strategic planning of work for multi-ages, and will challenge the conventional wisdom that workspace design, technology, and policies need to be specially designed for Generation Y.
