Copenhagen

The Johnson Controls Energy & Sustainability team stepped out onto the world stage during the UN COP15 Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. The United Nations Climate Change Conference took place in Copenhagen December 7-18. It’s called COP15 because it is the 15th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Johnson Controls attended and participated in a number of conferences, panels, meetings, side events and receptions including a panel on green building technology sponsored by the US Department of Commerce, a panel on radical energy efficiency sponsored by The Climate Group, a panel of signatories to the “Copenhagen Communiqué” and webinar on energy efficiency sponsored by Johnson Controls and the US Energy Association. We also took part in events hosted by the World Environment Center, Pew Center for Global Climate Change, World Resources Institute, Alliance to Save Energy and The Energy and Resources Institute. Johnson Controls had a booth at the Bright Green Exhibition where it showcased its global capabilities for improving energy efficiency in buildings and vehicles.

Johnson Controls has been visible in its support for comprehensive energy and climate policy, with efforts including joining two dozen other major companies and environmental groups in sponsoring full-page ads in The New York Times, Washington Post and USA Today calling upon the U.S. Senate to pass clean energy legislation before the end of the year. Johnson Controls - along with 800 other companies - has also signed the Prince of Wales’ “Copenhagen Communiqué,” which calls on world leaders to take action to tackle climate change.
