Frick® Economizers
DX, Coil and Flash
Coil economizers are pressure vessels containing a liquid refrigerant bath and a submerged pipe coil bundle. High pressure liquid refrigerant is chilled as it passes through the coil on its way to the low side evaporators.
Flash Economizers are pressure vessels where all liquid refrigerant is flashed to an intermediate pressure level before passing on to the low side evaporators.
Economization reduces the amount of non-useful flash gas created at the system low side thus making the refrigeration cycle more efficient and saving operating cost.
- Frick® economizers are designed and rated for the specified refrigerant and operating conditions.
- All nozzle connections are sized according to industry standard criteria based on the refrigerant and specified operating conditions.
- Frick® Coolware software allows custom rating of economizers (except DX economizers) with various refrigerants, nozzle sizing based on maximum vessel capacity or specific capacity and modification of the nozzle locations (within limitations)
- The Frick® economizers and components are abrasively cleaned prior to assembly assuring a clean interior and maximum adhesion of the final exterior paint system.
- The finished vessel is pressure tested to assure the integrity of all welds. It is vacuum dehydrated and charged with a 15 psi nitrogen charge for shipment and storage. This procedure minimizes the potential for internal corrosion prior to being placed into service.
- Codes: Designed and constructed per ASME, Section VIII (latest addenda) and the Manufacturer’s Data Report registered with the National Board.
- Design Pressure: Vessels intended for ammonia (R-717) duty are designed for a 250 psi pressure rating (300 psi on 24 inch and smaller). Alternate design pressure ratings are available. DX Economizers are designed for 350 psi shell side and tube side.
- Special Treatment: Post-weld heat treatment is standard for ammonia vessels
- Cleanliness: Pressure vessel shell material and components are abrasively cleaned prior to assembly
- Exterior Finish: High-quality, corrosion-resistant, long-lasting epoxy paint
- Quality Check: Vessels are pressure tested for integrity and leak checked
- Prep for Shipment: Finished vessels are vacuum dehydrated and charged with 15 psi of nitrogen for shipment and storage
