Virginia Corrections Project Reduces Costs, While Ensuring Safety
The Virginia Department of Corrections, like many state agencies, faced a lack of funds to deal with an aging infrastructure and deferred maintenance – along with the added challenge of the governor’s executive order to reduce energy use. The solution, from partner Johnson Controls, allowed them to make more than $51 million in facility infrastructure upgrades with a minimal impact on their capital budget.
Guaranteed Energy Savings Fund Upgrades for Saskatoon Schools
With an aging infrastructure and winter temperatures that reach -40°F, the Saskatoon (Saskatchewan) Public School District was facing super-sized utility bills and annual repair costs. They turned to Johnson Controls, a long-time energy efficiency partner, for nearly $10 million in facility improvements to 48 of their schools. The good news is the district could take advantage of performance contracting, allowing the investment to be funded through the project’s expected energy and operational savings of $13 million over a 10-year period.
Rental Chiller Allows Florida Hospital to Keep Its Cool & Maintain Budget
It’s every facility manager’s nightmare: It’s Florida in June and a catastrophic chiller failure is threatening the health and comfort of patients at a 480-bed medical center that serves as the only trauma center in the county. In the case of Bayfront Medical Center, a call to Johnson Controls provided a unique solution that kept patients cool and administrators comfortable with the process of researching and buying a replacement chiller.

Historic U.S. Army garrison made improvements that will save $134 million in energy costs through 2030. When an Executive Order required the Aberdeen Proving Grounds to cut energy consumption by 30 percent, the U.S. Army turned to Johnson Controls for $52 million in energy retrofits projected to save $134 million and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 26,500 tons – without interrupting critical services.
