At our new South Carolina recycling facility

With the first air permit issued in nearly 20 years in the United States for a new, fully integrated battery recycling facility, our state-of-the-art Florence Battery Recycling Center began operation in September 2012. The facility features world-class environmental controls, well within federal, state and local regulations including the EPA’s newly released, stringent standards for ambient air. The maximum predicted concentration of lead in the air from our facility will be less than one-half of the newly revised EPA standards.

The energy-efficient LEED-design includes geothermal heating and cooling, green roofing, water reuse and recycling, and natural lighting systems. The site’s footprint is minimized to protect sensitive habitats and manage storm water runoff.
