General requirements for suppliers related to Substances Control

Johnson Controls requires its suppliers to conduct their operations in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. One of our goals is to work collaboratively with suppliers to encourage them to comply with all applicable laws and regulations related to substance restrictions - globally.

Suppliers must not supply products, components or materials containing substances listed on the Johnson Controls Restricted Substances List Updated July 1, 2012 (PDF) to any Johnson Controls Building Efficiency location without written approval. 

Suppliers must not use any substances from this list in processes manufacturing products, components or materials for Johnson Controls unless the substances are used in accordance with local legislation and will not end up in the final product.


New text added to all purchase orders

The following text will be added to all purchase orders you will receive from Johnson Controls: 

Supplier certifies, warrants, and guarantees to Johnson Controls that its product(s) supplied under this purchase order is / are in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to the European REACH regulation and RoHS directive.
