Johnson Controls has been ranked 17th in Corporate Responsibility (CR) Magazine’s 17th annual “100 Best Corporate Citizens List.

Sustainability Indexes

  • Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI): World & North America, Dow Jones, since September 2005.
    • DJSI North America includes the top 20 percent of the 600 largest North American companies in terms of sustainability performance for each DJSI sector.
  • FTSE4Good Index Series, spotlighting companies that meet globally recognized corporate responsibility standards, Financial Times Stock Exchange, since 2004.
  • NASDAQ OMX CRD Global Sustainability 50 Index, includes companies that lead in disclosing their carbon footprint, energy usage, water consumption, waste, employee safety, workforce diversity, management composition and community investing, NASDAQ, since 2009.
  • MSCI Global Climate Index, MSCI KLD 400 Social Index and 27 other MSCI indexes, MSCI, since 2002.

  • Calvert Social Index, a benchmark of large, U.S.-based socially responsible companies, by Calvert Investments, since February 2009.
  • Maplecroft Climate Innovation Indexes, Maplecroft, since 2010.
    • Maplecroft CII Benchmark Index — Includes 346 of the largest U.S. companies engaged in public climate-related programs.
    • Maplecroft CII Leaders Index — Includes 100 top-performing companies from the Maplecroft CII Benchmark Index.
  • STOXX® Global ESG Leaders indexes, a series of environmental, social and governance equity indexes, STOXX, since 2011.
  • Global Compact 100 Index, representative group of Global Compact companies selected based on their adherence to the Global Compact’s Ten Principles as well as evidence of executive leadership commitment and consistent base-line profitability, United Nations, since 2013.
  • Euronex Vigeo, composed of the highest-ranking listed companies as evaluated by the agency in terms of performance in corporate responsibility.
