Streamlining Chiller Maintenance

A recent survey by the Building Efficiency Professional Network revealed that only 30 percent of facility professionals are fully satisfied with their chiller maintenance program. While they’d like to have accurate measures of reliability, chiller up time, time between failures, chiller efficiency and mean time to repair, they also find it difficult to measure those maintenance program qualities.

Part of this may be because data recording methods have yet to catch up with today’s data needs. Forty-four percent of facility professionals surveyed report that they are still recording their chiller data in binders, while 42 percent are using spreadsheets, showing that manual logging is very common. This leaves little time for more comprehensive analysis, and can actually hinder the decision making process during equipment malfunctions – 33 percent of those surveyed report that they cannot access information that could help them make better decisions remotely.

Users want to leverage technology and support to move from a reactive to a proactive approach to chiller maintenance.
