Johnson Controls receives CIPS Accreditation in UK and Ireland
The Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) has awarded Johnson Controls Ltd, its UK building efficiency business, certification for procurement excellence. In achieving this recognised hallmark of purchasing and supply chain management processes, Johnson Controls joins a prestigious group of companies including the BBC, Hewlett Packard, HSBC and British Airways.
To award certification, CIPS assesses the standards of purchasing and supply procedures, and appraises the overall standard of supplier management policies and practices. As a result, Johnson Controls now has in place a purchasing framework that helps mitigate business risk, improve efficiency, save money and ensure a consistent approach to procurement throughout its business.
Michael Campbell director of business development at CIPS, said senior level recognition and endorsement for purchasing was essential for business success. “Johnson Controls Supply Chain Management team sees that CIPS certification is a benchmark of recognised good practices and a sound warranty for all stakeholders.”
Johnson Controls completed the CIPS accreditation process in just three months, whilst some companies can take up to two years. During this time the Supply Chain Management team provided evidence to show compliance with more than 500 processes.
Shaun Carroll, Director of Supply Chain Global WorkPlace Solutions, commented: “We’re delighted to have been awarded this certification which shows that our procurement processes are robust and transparent, meeting industry best practice. This truly demonstrates our commitment to delivering defined and consistent procedures in all our purchasing transactions.”
Johnson Controls is now looking to extend this procurement excellence and achieve certification across its European operations.
