Letter from the Chairman

Johnson Controls is on a diversity journey that must make us leaders in diversity in a very broad sense. Thatís the one thing that will ultimately separate us from our competition and allow us to continue to be successful as a multi-national, global organization.

Beyond financial measures of sales or margin, we expect the voice of our workforce to speak the loudest, and we've been very strategic in our efforts to make diversity and inclusion a top priority. With processes consisting of internal due diligence, stakeholder input and external benchmarking, Johnson Controls strives to provide an increasingly supportive culture that fosters growth, retention and inclusion.

That culture includes a vice president of diversity and public affairs, reporting to me, whose responsibilities demonstrate internally and externally that we're serious about diversity and inclusion, now and into the future.

Our commitment to diversity doesn't end with our employees. But it doesnít start without them, and it includes our customers, suppliers, the board of directors and the future leaders of the company.
