Vice President, Corporate Communication

Career: Ms. Strayer joined Johnson Controls as vice president, corporate communication in September 2008. She previously was vice president, corporate communications, for Arrow Electronics, Inc. from 2004 to 2008. Prior to that she held communication leadership positions at United Technologies Corporation and GE Capital Corporation. Earlier in her career she was a communications consultant at William M. Mercer in New York.

Education and Background: Ms. Strayer holds a master's of professional studies from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts, Graduate Division of Film and Television and a bachelor of arts in economics and political science from the University of Connecticut. She also completed additional studies at the London School of Economics and graduate work at Columbia University. She has completed all course work toward a doctorate of management in organizational leadership and is currently writing her dissertation.

Awards, Recognition and Service: Ms. Strayer has received numerous awards for her work in communications and public affairs, including two "Best in Class Awards" from the Conference Board and the "Points of Light Award" from Gen. Colin Powell. A past chair of Connecticut Public Broadcasting, she is a trustee of WNET/WLIW. She is a member of the Arthur Page Society and the Communication Strategy Council of the Conference Board. She is a board member of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
