YORK® YVAA chillers

Johnson Controls’ newest generation of air-cooled chillers brings comfort – and world-class efficiency – to commercial facilities around the globe

Of all the components in commercial heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, the chiller, which provides cooling, consumes the most energy, making it one of the biggest indirect contributors to global warming potential.

Johnson Controls’ line of YORK® YVAA Variable Speed Air-Cooled Screw Chillers works to combat this in large facilities, while also providing exceptional performance and cost savings.

“The key behind YVAA is its world-class efficiency,” said Nick Staub, product portfolio manager, North America, Chiller Solutions, Johnson Controls Building Efficiency. “Using our YVAA chiller can reduce energy costs up to 25 percent over the market average today. When replacing a chiller that’s reached the end of its life, customers can save up to 50 percent.”

YORK® YVAA chillers offer several advantages:

  • Sustainability: YVAA reduces refrigerant charge by up to 15 percent and, because it is air-cooled, conserves water.
  • Low sound: One of the quietest chillers in the marketplace today, YVAA reduces noise by up to 16 dBA.
  • Efficiency: YVAA offers flexible energy consumption and “intelligent” cost reduction. Customers realize significantly improved bottom lines and quicker cost recovery.

The YORK® YVAA chiller is a global solution combining traditional technologies, such as variable-speed drives, with newer, state-of-the-art technologies, including high-efficiency falling-film evaporators and advanced microchannel condenser coils.

Currently available in 150- to 350-ton capacities, a version with up to 500-ton capacity is planned for release in 2012. The YVAA line is compliant with U.S. Green Building Council LEED® specifications and helps customers meet legislation to reduce energy consumption and environmental footprint.
