Johnson Controls unveils new solutions in automotive interiors that are sure to delight drivers

As a major global supplier of automotive seating, interior systems, electronics and batteries, Johnson Controls is bringing ingenuity to the vehicles of today and tomorrow. The dedication to this objective was reflected at the 2009 North American International Auto Show at Cobo Center in Detroit in January, as the company showcased its latest products, systems, technologies and future concepts. 

Some of the products include:
 
  • The re3 concept car, a plug-in hybrid-electric vehicle prototype, which features room for five adults. It is fully loaded with the latest Johnson Controls innovations in seating, storage systems, information-display technology, human-machine interaction and renewable materials. It’s the result of global collaboration between Johnson Controls’ automotive and power solutions businesses.
  • Sustainable solutions for automotive seating. Innovations include the lightweight Synergy Seat, comprising recycled and natural materials. The seat is also nearly 100 percent recyclable.
  • Seating foam made from natural oil polyols.
  • Current- and future-generation batteries for conventional cars and trucks, as well as advanced energy storage solutions for electric, hybrid-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric vehicles.
  • Other industry innovations in electronics, instrument panels, door panels and overhead consoles.

The event marked the 15th consecutive year that Johnson Controls had a major presence at the auto show, as both an event sponsor and exhibitor. The 10,000-square-foot exhibit presentation was augmented by press conferences that focused on a number of product innovations.
