Johnson Controls delivers security technology

Ask people what comes to mind when they think of security systems and you often get images of guard dogs, razor wire, walls of video monitors and sophisticated electronics. But ask a Johnson Controls security professional, and instead you get images of a Smart Environment.
A Smart Environment knows who should be there, and who should not. It watches for trouble before it begins, without intrusion of privacy, and keeps people safe and assets productive. And a Smart Environment from Johnson Controls integrates various elements of the facility, from fire detection and access control, to temperature control and energy management.

Meeting Customer Needs

Among the reasons businesses choose Johnson Controls’ Smart Environment for their fire and security systems:
  • As a systems integrator, we work with consulting firms, construction contractors and renovators to tie together various manufacturers’ products and legacy systems to create a seamless, scalable solution. That’s important when a building contains a number of new and existing products or systems. Johnson Controls provides a single source of responsibility for the design, installation, commissioning and service for each fire and security solution. A Johnson Controls fire and security solution is designed to grow with the needs of your business, whether you’re expanding or upgrading technologies.
  • Johnson Controls manufactures the P2000 security management system, which offers users interactive, real–time security management of facilities. The “glue” of the security system, it’s designed for ease of use and enables security or building personnel to configure identity access rights from a simple Web browser interface. What’s more, it’s IT-friendly Open Architecture design allows for efficient connection to a variety of subsystems. Connected security subsystems then contribute alarm and event information to create a common operating picture of security status. Remote assessment through video verification of events streamlines staff productivity. False alarms and unnecessary dispatch of personnel are minimized—improving security while saving money. The P2000 integrates video subsystems from a number of manufacturers, including our own Digital Vision Network (DVN).
  • The DVN is a hybrid surveillance system that allows users to record images from either traditional analog CCTV cameras or the latest digital (IP-based) camera technologies. And for our customers looking to migrate from analog to IP technology, the DVN allows for mixing and matching of both—creating smooth migration options. Whether integrated with the P2000 or operated stand-alone, the DVN provides quick access to all video from the command center to Web browsers, as well as wireless personal data assistants (PDAs). The DVN even has the capability of monitoring camera images itself through advanced video analytics. DVN analytic programs can be configured to detect simple or complex motion and alert staff to potential problems—speeding assessment, enhancing response and minimizing recovery times.

From simple fire and security needs to the most demanding applications, Johnson Controls is creating Smart Environments around the planet. With more than 500 wholly owned offices and one of the largest service truck fleets in the world, we are probably already in your neighborhood.
