• Water and wastewater utilities account for 30-40% of the electricity used by mid-sized cities. Both water and wastewater facilities are a target for energy efficiency measures: pumping and aeration improvements, operational cost reductions with an energy retrofit, and the use of renewable energy.

• Water loss is estimated at 10% to 20% in distribution systems throughout the U.S. Use Automated Meter Reading or Advanced Metering Infrastructures, accurate meter sizing and typing, and water loss control measures to improve your water loss profile.
