Energy Technologies & Management

Johnson Controls is a leader in delivering energy efficiency in the United States.

Due to our products and services, our customers will save $18 billion in energy costs through 2010 and reduce air pollution by 352 million tons. This is equivalent to planting 29 million acres of trees or removing the emissions of 4 million gas-combustion motor vehicles. As an added benefit, our energy efficiency initiatives will create some 9,000 jobs nationally.

There are a variety of technologies that can be utilized to reduce your energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions. Johnson Controls can help you with upgrading HVAC and lighting systems, installing lighting and motion sensors, implementing renewable energy technologies such as solar and biomass, replacing windows and much more.

If you have the technology in place, Johnson Controls can help you better manage your energy. On the supply side, we can help you procure energy through reverse auctions, analyze your utility bills or process your bills. On the demand side, we can conduct audits, plans and budgets for your energy usage.

Building Management Systems

The Johnson Controls Metasys® building management system gives healthcare facility managers more control and easier access to information than any other system of its kind. It incorporates open systems technologies of both the building automation and the information technologies industries.

The result is a system that provides intelligent building automation, integrates building equipment and clinical applications, organizes information in a logical way, and delivers information where and when it is needed. With wireless technologies, the monitoring and control capabilities of the Metasys system can be cost-effectively expanded into spaces previously difficult or cost prohibitive to wire.

Central Utility Plants

Johnson Controls specializes in alternative methods for designing, building, operating, maintaining and financing central plants. Hospital central plants are typically built under a traditional “stick built” construction paradigm. One alternative is the YORK heat pump chiller, which saves on water, chemicals and natural gas. Other alternatives are the YORK modular and scaleable units, which have a shorter construction schedule, smaller footprint and lower installed cost than traditionally constructed central plants.

Using our operations and maintenance services can help you reduce costs while guaranteeing capacity, quality and reliability levels. In addition, our service hedges the risk of using leading-edge technologies.

How do you finance this? Our innovative deal structures can include equipment leasing and allow you to buy output on a unit price basis, providing you with more flexibility regarding your budgets.
