Icemax is a biological additive that, when mixed with water, freezes the water at a higher than average temperature. It is known in the scientific world for having a uniform freezing temperature of 26.8°F (-2.9°C). Having a signature freezing temperature can be an important factor in many industries, such as ice arenas, snowmaking, thermal storage, polar construction and other applications. In contrast, regular tap water has a temperature freezing range that averages about 18°F (-7.7°C). The difference between 26.8°F and 18°F can be the difference of thousands of dollars spent on energy.

Because the molecules of water attach to the Icemax seed in the freezing process, they aren’t attaching to other microscopic minerals in the water, such as magnesium, calcium, potassium, silica, or sulfates which have lower freezing temperatures. This forces those particles out of the freezing process, and to the outside of the frozen particle.
