Johnson Controls Receives Recognition for International Market Success

Article 2 - Recognition of International Market Success

We're proud to have received an award from the U.S. Department of Commerce in recognition of our efforts to promote sustainable development and energy efficiency in the Middle East.

The Export Achievement Certificate was created by the U.S. Department of Commerce to recognize U.S. companies that successfully penetrate international markets for distribution of their products. Since entering the Middle East market, Johnson Controls has supplied more than 1,250 large tonnage chillers and two million tons of cooling to the area.

The Honorable Joseph Evan LeBaron, U.S. ambassador to Qatar, presented the award to Dr. Anwar Hassan, vice president and general manager for Large Tonnage Solutions at Johnson Controls, during the International District Energy Association’s (IDEA) 5th International District Cooling Conference & Trade Show on Nov. 8 in Doha, Qatar.

Magdy Mekky, Johnson Controls vice president and managing director for the Middle East states, “Innovation has been the hallmark of our operations in the Middle East and, coupled with market-leading technology that includes radiator-cooled chillers, sea water cooling and variable-speed drives, has enabled us to offer unique and sustainable solutions to our clients.”

BUILDINGS THAT WORK
Marine Corps Base Solar Panels U.S. Marine Corps base estimated to achieve $138 million in energy savings over 20 years. Energy efficiency upgrades - including a new cogeneration plant - are delivering reliable, secure power to the U.S. Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) in California. Financed through a 20-year energy savings performance contract, the improvements ensure comfortable living and working conditions for base personnel and their families..
