Central Plant Optimization™
Reducing Chiller Plant Energy Consumption by up to 60 Percent
Johnson Controls unveils Central Plant Optimization™, the latest in automation software, designed to deliver energy savings previously unattainable.
Central Plant Optimization™ is a holistic approach to efficiency that encompasses everything from infrastructure design and component selection to measurement and maintenance.
Central Plant Optimization™10 (CPO 10) and Central Plant Optimization™30 (CPO 30), feature innovative control technology allowing chiller plants to reach and sustain their high-performance, high-efficiency potential. The approach can be used in both existing buildings and new construction, and can reduce chiller energy plant consumption by up to 60 percent.
Central Plant Optimization 10 (CPO 10)
Best for: Any plant running on the Metasys® building management system
Johnson Controls CPO 10 leverages standard algorithms and programs that are inherent in Metasys®. A plant utilizing CPO 10 can operate up to 15 percent more efficiently than the same plant that uses a standard automation approach.
- CPO 10 controls the sequencing of pumps, isolation valves and main equipment, while maintaining the timing delays for safe and stable operation.
- Web-based and wireless technologies deliver remote monitoring and diagnostics, enabling quicker response times to system alarms and operating anomalies.
- To monitor plant operation, Metasys Ready Access Portal provides customized and easy-to-access reports via standard browsers and Apple iPhone® and iPod® Touch platforms.
- To measure and manage plant performance over time, Metasys Energy Essentials reporting enables visibility of energy use, including equipment runtime, starts and stops, energy consumption and energy cost details, weather details, and daily load profiles.
Central Plant Optimization 30 (CPO 30)
Best for: All variable-speed plants
Johnson Controls CPO 30 is a standard software program that advises the BAS on what actions to take to optimize the plant. Owners can realize 20 to 60 percent energy savings, including savings from plant upgrades.
- The CPO 30 software application is platform neutral for seamless integration with virtually any building automation system (BAS), including Metasys, Johnson Controls building management system.
- Every 30 seconds, the software automatically gathers current operating and building load data from the BAS. The application then applies relational control algorithms to calculate optimal system operation, and directs control sequences back to the BAS for execution.
- Web-based measurement, verification and management services provide system operators the information they need to sustain energy reductions. Graphs and charts make it simple to track real-time energy use, manage system operations and find and correct system faults as they occur.
