New Energy-Efficient Fan Coil Unveiled

Fan Coil Unit

New Fan Coil Unit Targets Sustainable Design

We've extended our line of fan coil units with a new, vertical, floor-mounted unit that uses 30 to 50 percent less energy than competitive models.

The model FW is available in sizes from nominal 200 to 1,200. The unit has been designed to match the dimensions of the most common models installed in the United States, making it the perfect choice for renovation projects. Cabinet heights and widths can be varied in 1-inch increments up to 12 inches to accommodate existing architectural features, and units are available in concealed, exposed, or sloped-top configurations.

The model FW offers the following Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) features

  • A sloped, stainless-steel drain pan to avoid standing water, and reduced sound levels
  • Sound data tested in accordance with AHRI Standard 350
  • Closed-cell foam insulation which offers a higher insulating value than fiberglass and ensures no wicking of condensate
  • MERV 8 or MERV 13 filters to improve filter efficiency

Energy Management options include:

  • A programmable thermostat that utilizes a time clock for temperature setback
  • A passive infrared (PIR) sensor that determines setback based on occupancy
  • A Johnson Controls field equipment controller (FEC) that can be used for network or wireless communications
  • The ability to communicate with a building automation system using a centralized control
  • Factory-mounted DDC controls or unit-mounted digital thermostats, and factory-mounted piping packages that arrive on the job site with actuators wired to the controller
