Johnson Controls scores in efficiency, security at Super Bowl in Tampa, Florida
While Super Bowl XLIII is now over, Johnson Controls was hard at work to provide our long-time customer, Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, USA, with the energy efficiency and security solutions it required to host this signature event. For more than five years, our Building Efficiency business has helped the stadium implement energy efficient chillers and LED lighting, which has saved an estimated $580,000 USD. One of the main challenges the stadium had was battling the city’s humid climate, while still using the least amount of power possible, which we did with our state-of-the-art systems. This work was featured in an article in Sunday's New York Times... click here to read more.
In addition to helping make sure the more than 72,000 fans were comfortable at the big game, Johnson Controls also helped them stay safe with a new fully-automated security system. The solution we provided not only gave the stadium the security it needs on a day-to-day basis, but it met the needs of the National Foolball League (NFL) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for temporary security measures on game day. This was done by integrating the stadium’s old security system so that all the security information and video can be viewed from its command center.
Following the initial Security contract, we were also awarded the contract to service and maintain the new system at the stadium.
