Audio-prompted HomeLink® system makes programming simpler

New System Makes for Easier Transition

Back in the 1950s, sci-fi cartoons and TV serials set in the 21st century would invariably feature a suburbanite in a flying car, punching buttons on the dash as he flew home from a hard day at the office. Those buttons would “magically” control all aspects of his life—turning on lights in his house while he still was in the driveway, starting appliances and generally making life easier.
Well, the 21st-century vision wasn’t that far off (except for the flying car part).
Now, consumers can control all sorts of devices from their automobiles—from garage-door openers to home security systems—with the push of a button. Johnson Controls’ HomeLink® Wireless Control System is integrated into a car’s overhead console, sun visor or other area of the interior, and can be used to operate garage doors, estate gates, locks, home security and lighting systems remotely. Currently, 40 million consumers use the HomeLink system in their vehicles.

Easy Made Easier
To continue moving the technology forward, Johnson Controls is adding a more intuitive voice-prompt technology to the HomeLink product to make it even easier to program and use. Following simple push-button activation, HomeLink with VoiceTrain™ and Bluetooth-enabled HomeLink with VoiceTrain prompt users automatically through a quick, step-by-step process to train the device for their home-based products and systems.
The integration is seamless: The HomeLink with BlueConnect® voice-recognition capabilities, combined with in-vehicle displays, assist in training while instructions are played over the vehicle’s audio system via a Bluetooth connection.
“With our exclusive VoiceTrain technology, we believe the HomeLink system is the most intuitive, full-featured car-to-home device available in the auto industry today,” says Jim Trainor, Global Electronic Product Director—Specialty Electronics Products for Johnson Controls. “Together with the QuickTrain technology, these innovations are great examples of our commitment to expanding the security, convenience and functionality of HomeLink.”
