Addressing fire protection gaps in critical patient care areas

A regional hospital identified gaps in sprinkler coverage that created safety concerns, increased insurance liabilities and limited optimal evacuation routes in an emergency. Hospital leaders needed a solution that would provide comprehensive fire protection while supporting patient, visitor and staff safety.

Coordinated fire suppression upgrades improve facility-wide protection

Johnson Controls collaborated closely with the hospital's construction and maintenance teams to develop and implement a phased sprinkler system upgrade plan. As part of the project, the team installed Tyco Raven sprinkler heads, a new fire pump controller, an electrical transfer switch and four control assembly set-ups designed to work together for rapid response when a fire is detected.

Enhanced safety, responsiveness and compliance across the hospital

The upgraded fire suppression system expanded protection throughout patient care areas while improving emergency readiness across the facility. The hospital reduced insurance costs, achieved compliance with current fire safety codes and standards, and strengthened occupant safety through improved fire protection and evacuation pathways.
