      Johnson Controls supports organizations that provide safety from natural disasters such as floods, fires and hurricanes, and organizations with a mission for safety from violence in the home and neighborhood.

      Johnson Controls is a partner with the American Red Cross Disaster Recovery Program and provides a half million dollars each year earmarked specifically for global disaster relief.

      Johnson Controls gives direct support to universities and indirect support to K-12 schools through partnerships with nonprofit organizations whose programs drive student success. We also define arts organizations in the “smart” category, with an understanding that robust arts exposure drives cognitive development and emotional intelligence.

      Partnership with Discovery World

      Since 2016, Johnson Controls has provided funding for more than XXX students in grades five and eight from XX schools in Johnson Controls neighborhoods of focus to take repeated field trips to Discovery World, to work in the labs and learn about XX, XX, XX and XX.

      Johnson Controls supports organizations that keep our communities sustainable by meeting basic human needs such as food and shelter, and also supports organizations with a mission to protect our environment.

      Discovery World

      Schlitz Audubon Center

      Johnson Controls is a long-time supporter of the Schlitz Audubon Center, which has a mission to conserve the diverse habitats on Lake Michigan and provide environmental education. Since 2016, the center has hosted more than 2,400 students from within the Johnson Controls neighborhoods of focus for environmental education that includes interaction with animal ambassadors.

      Response to the Sustainable Development Goals of United Nations

      The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations member states in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries, in a global partnership. 

      The United Nations recognizes that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequity, and spur economic growth, all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

      Johnson Controls uses these goals as a base in the creation of community and philanthropic strategy, and all our work is in support of them. Each organization that Johnson Controls supports within our safe, smart and sustainable categories has a mission tied to one or more of these goals.
