A Security Solution for the Potomac Boat Club
Problem
The Potomac Boat Club is a rowing club on the Potomac River in Washington, DC. The club has more than 300 members, ranging from recreational rowers to Olympic athletes. In the past, the club had issues with break-ins and theft on the property. Being a nonprofit, volunteer organization, the club had no resources for a full-time security staff. Therefore, they needed a full surveillance system to monitor the clubhouse, boats, parking lot, and surrounding property at all times.
Solution
The club security committee consulted with Urban Alarm to identify their issues and security goals. Urban Alarm recommended a comprehensive surveillance solution including a dealer-built server with exacqVision Start video management system (VMS) software. Urban Alarm placed 12 ACTi IP cameras throughout the property. Cameras cover the downstream and upstream portions of the river, the parking lot, and the perimeter of the clubhouse. To monitor all the camera views, Urban Alarm installed exacqVision VMS software.
