• Program supported 554 scholarships during the 2024-2025 school year and has helped kickstart more than one thousand careers

Milwaukee, Sept. 25, 2025 – Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI), the global leader for smart, healthy and sustainable buildings, today announced the fifth year of its Community College Partnership Program, awarding an additional $3 million in funding across 30 community colleges. Johnson Controls is dedicated to advancing career pathways and empowering the next generation of innovators and leaders through workforce development initiatives.

“The Community College Partnership continues to empower institutions to equip students for success in the skilled trades,” said Katie McGinty, vice president and chief sustainability and external relations officer, Johnson Controls. “Our collaboration with these colleges is creating real career pathways and driving meaningful progress in closing the skilled trades gap across North America.”

Impact of the Community College Partnership Program
The Johnson Controls Community College Partnership Program has made significant impact across North American communities:

  • 554 students received scholarships in the 2024-2025 school year
  • 4,998 students enrolled in programs to date
  • 1,046 graduates so far, with more anticipated as students complete multi-year programs
  • 846 volunteer hours tracked by Johnson Controls employees in the 2024-2025 school year

Community College Partnership Program Reaches New Heights
Launched in 2021, the Community College Partnership Program is designed to support students by creating clear pathways to careers in high-demand technical fields. For example, the Bureau for Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook, which includes information on about 600 occupations, notes the need for HVAC-R mechanics and installers is expected to grow 8% and add about 40,100 openings per year through 2034. The Community College Partnership Program is designed to in part address this need by meeting students where they are. Johnson Controls works with nonprofit community colleges to strengthen academic offerings in HVAC, fire protection, security and digital technologies through unique industry knowledge, with the long-term goal of helping students secure family-supporting jobs. Each college receives a grant that can be renewed for additional funding for up to three years, enabling them to grow their programs and reach more students.

Through the Community College Partnership Program, Johnson Controls is on track to donate up to $15 million by the end of 2026 to expand access to educational programs in the HVAC, fire, security and digital disciplines.
