Johnson Controls earns gold medal from EcoVadis for sustainability leadership

MILWAUKEE, Feb. 17, 2026 – Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI), a global technology leader in energy efficiency, decarbonization, thermal management and mission-critical performance, has earned a Gold Medal from EcoVadis, placing it in the top 5% of more than 150,000 companies rated across the globe. The EcoVadis assessment evaluates performance and transparency across environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. The Gold Medal award recognizes businesses that are leading in sustainability and are ahead of market demands and stakeholder expectations.

In the U.S., Stanford University leveraged OpenBlue and upgraded chillers to cut annual energy costs by $500,000 and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 68%. The trifecta is transforming operations, lowering costs and helping customers operate more sustainably.

EcoVadis business sustainability ratings are based on 21 criteria aligned to international sustainability standards such as the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, the International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and the ISO 26000 standard. The ratings provide an evidenced-based analysis of performance and an actionable roadmap for continuous improvement.
