FoodTown sustains reliable refrigeration for large-scale food production in Brazil
Supporting reliable refrigeration for large-scale food production
Impact Highlights
Continuous refrigeration supporting nationwide food production
Ultra-low-temperature control protecting product quality
Reduced unplanned interventions through advanced automation
Maintaining reliability in a mature, high-volume refrigeration operation
FoodTown operates a large-scale food production and distribution facility in Brazil, where uninterrupted refrigeration is essential to maintaining product quality and consistency. The operation runs in a mature but highly critical environment, requiring equipment that delivers reliability, robustness, and ease of maintenance at full production capacity.
With refrigeration systems operating at ultra-low temperatures, the facility needed to sustain long-term performance while minimizing unplanned downtime in a high-throughput operation supporting national supply requirements.
Sustaining performance through robust equipment and structured maintenance
To support continuous operations, FoodTown relies on a structured maintenance approach combined with robust refrigeration equipment at its Osasco plant. More than 10 Frick compressors, in operation since 1998, continue to meet production requirements through consistent performance and durability.
Automation and control configurations compatible with Industry 4.0 standards support stable operation while reducing the need for unplanned interventions. The use of original spare parts further contributes to equipment longevity and dependable day-to-day performance.
“The automation of our equipment is the result of years of technical evolution. Compatible with Industry 4.0 and encompassing a series of communication protocols, the configuration eliminates unplanned actions and customizations.”

Stable, long-term refrigeration performance supporting food quality
Refrigeration systems at the plant operate continuously at temperatures as low as -58°F, supporting FoodTown’s ability to maintain product flavor and quality at scale. This stability enables uninterrupted production and nationwide distribution for one of the world’s largest fast-food supply chains.
Looking ahead, controller modernization and potential remote monitoring capabilities are under evaluation to further extend equipment life, support data-driven decision-making, and reduce the risk of unexpected downtime.
