This smart building data platform leverages scalable and secure technologies to offer common foundational capabilities to derive insights across the entire building life cycle.
The OpenBlue Data Platform - integrating IT and OT data
The OpenBlue Data Platform brings both IT and OT data together from across the building's ecosystem. Leveraging a scalable and cybersecure ecosystem of edge, cloud and Al technologies that drive innovation, insights and impactful results. The OpenBlue data platform has two major components, Edge and Cloud.
OpenBlue Edge
The core of the Edge platform is the OpenBlue Bridge (OBB). This is a physical edge appliance that connects various on-prem systems and devices to the OpenBlue cloud. OBB embeds software such as a HIP based zero trust solution called Airwall between the edge and cloud.
The Airwall solution offers zero trust connectivity between Edge and the cloud platform providing a virtual air-gap solution that makes device network traffic invisible.
The Edge platform connects to many systems and sub-systems through standard protocols and REST API.
Rule based actions are executed at the edge reducing the amount of data sent data to cloud.
Three active bridge units offer a high available cluster ensuring continuous data flow from edge to cloud and back should a unit fail.
OpenBlue Cloud
OpenBlue Cloud provides several essential services to securely onboard, collect, transform, enrich and deliver building data to both internal and external applications. It also allows commands to be delivered from applications to on-prem systems via OpenBlue Bridge.
In addition to a seamless connection to JCI Metasys BMS, the cloud platform collects data from various third-party vendor systems via their cloud APIs.
The Rapid OpenBlue Onboarding Tool (ROBOT) utilizes AI to classify raw entity data into the BRICK compliant OpenBlue standard while adding context to make the data more meaningful to consume.
Data reaching the cloud Platform is transformed to the OpenBlue standard allowing vendor agnostic data to easily be consumed by both internal and external applications.
The OpenBlue identify service authorizes and authenticates edge gateways, users and various services to maintain data security and enable Single Sign On to OpenBlue solutions.
