Johnson Controls among 53 signatories featured

The Climate Pledge, a commitment made by 53 organizations including Johnson Controls, is highlighted in an advertisement in the Feb. 19 edition of the New York Times, aiming to celebrate the climate leadership the U.S. has shown by re-joining the Paris Agreement and encouraging companies to join The Climate Pledge.

The ad features the logos of the 53 companies that have joined The Climate Pledge, a commitment co-founded by Amazon and Global Optimism. Signatories of the Pledge commit to reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2040, ten years ahead of the goal set out in the United Nations' Paris Climate Agreement.

Last week, Johnson Controls signed the Pledge, and the move comes hot on the heels of the company’s announcement of new environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments, science-based targets, and its own net-zero carbon pledge. The signing aligns with Johnson Controls’ commitment to bring forward net-zero carbon emissions from 2050 to 2040.

Together, we have what it takes to help save our planet and create the economy of the future.

The ad states:

This week the U.S. has shown leadership by rejoining the Paris Agreement to reach net zero carbon by 2050.

These 53 companies (and counting) know we can go faster. That’s why they’ve joined The Climate Pledge—a commitment co-founded by Amazon and Global Optimism—to be net zero carbon across their businesses by 2040, 10 years ahead of the Paris Agreement.
