The new Global Commission on Healthy Indoor Air brings together nearly 170 leaders from over 30 countries spanning public health, academia and industry. Katie McGinty, chief sustainability and external relations officer at Johnson Controls, joins the inaugural group spearheaded by the International WELL Building Institute. By the end of 2026, the commission aims to address indoor air quality by developing a Global Framework for Action alongside national blueprints to guide country-specific solutions.

"The data is clear – when building owners and operators prioritize healthy indoor air, employees thrive and students achieve more. This is about more than just performance, it's about creating environments that empower people and drive strategic value for organizations,” Katie says. “At Johnson Controls, we're proud to bring our expertise to the work of this important commission, collaborating with leaders around the world to turn momentum into action and advance a framework that makes healthy indoor air the standard for all."

Joining the Commission continues Johnson Controls commitment to smart, healthy and sustainable buildings including its existing variety of solutions to address indoor air quality from IoT-connected sensors to AI-driven air quality data analysis using the OpenBlue smart building platform and Indoor Air Quality as a Service.
