A Powerful Access Control System Specifically Designed for Airports
BAA Heathrow Airport in London is the world’s busiest international airport, serving 30 million passengers traveling to over 180 destinations each year. It recently added Terminal 5 (T5), which covers 260 hectares and is the dedicated home for British Airways.
The T5 project required a proven, fully integrated IP security solution. CEM’s AC2000 AE, a powerful and fully integrated access system, was already in use in Heathrow and so was extended to T5. The AC2000 AE system can be customized to meet unique and ever-changing needs over time, a key factor in its suitability for the airport environment.
This case study examines how the AC2000 AE system was tailored for T5 to create an advanced, future proof security solution that works in harmony with existing control systems to manage access, passenger flow, and baggage throughout the airport.
