Since its opening in 1965, Baltimore Washington Medical Center (BWMC) has emerged as one of the largest and best-equipped medical centers in the state of Maryland. BWMC offers 308 beds with over 2,600 employees and 650 physicians. To better protect patients and staff, the medical center needed to find a replacement for its video surveillance system using analog cameras, which didn’t provide enough resolution to ensure positive identification. The new system would also need to make the most of the hospital’s bandwidth and be compatible with both IP and analog cameras.

Using exacqVision servers and video management software, along with both Arecont and Axis cameras, the hospital was able to install a system that met its needs at a fraction of the cost of other video management system providers. And because it’s easy to use, staff members were able to quickly start using the exacqVision software. Moreover, the flexibility of exacqVision will allow BMWC to expand or change its surveillance system to meet future needs.
