A Keyless Access System for the NJ Department of Transportation
After New Jersey’s Division of Motor Vehicle Services (DMV) was reassigned to the Department of Transportation (DOT), it became apparent that the DMV’s satellite office security solutions were inconsistent with the DOT system. While employees at both agencies’ headquarters used access cards for entry, employees at other locations used keys, and key replication had become a serious issue.
This case study looks at how Kantech access control systems provided the solution. Kantech systems seamlessly integrated access control across the agencies’ facilities, making monitoring much easier. Since access cards relied on proximity card readers, there was no wear and tear on magnetic strips and cards no longer had to be continually replaced. Additionally, the Kantech system enabled the DOT to institute flexible schemes and locking scenarios at different facilities.
